INSPIRE Visit to Edinburgh

photo Edinburgh, Scotland

On January 23rd 2023, INSPIRE’s Scientific Project Manager, Joanne Bayly, visited St. Columba’s Hospice, Edinburgh, to discuss all things rehab. During the visit, Jo spoke about some of the core concepts in palliative rehabilitation, including centering the voice of the patient and acknowledging that rehabilitation is about supporting patients and their loved ones to adapt to an advancing and ever-changing illness. She was delighted to present some key information on the developing INSPIRE trial and to discuss current practices and views of palliative rehab with the brilliant staff of St.Columba’s.

This visit also enabled Jo to meet with our INSPIRE team in Edinburgh,  Barry Laird and Amy McLuskie, in-person and discuss developments in the INSPIRE Palliative Rehabilitation Intervention manual. All in all, a fantastic opportunity to speak to key workers in St. Columba’s  about INSPIRE and what we hope to achieve, as well as facilitating team discussions and advancements in Work Package 2.
