Welcome \u2013 please can you tell us a bit about yourself?<\/strong><\/p> I\u2019m Sergi Navarro and I\u2019m a paediatrician and the head of the Children\u2019s Palliative Care (CPC) and Complex Care Team at the\u00a0Hospital Sant Joan De D\u00e9u<\/a>\u00a0in Barcelona and Director of the\u00a0Casia Sofia Centre<\/a>. I\u2019m also the president of the Spanish Paediatric Palliative Care Association. Here in Barcelona we have a team of more than thirty CPC professionals and part of what we are trying to do is challenging people\u2019s \u2018old fashioned\u2019 concepts that palliative care for children is just about end of life care. \u00a0It\u2019s much more than that. \u00a0It\u2019s about improving the quality of life for children with many different rare diseases, and this is one of our challenges.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t I am also the coordinator and the Principal Investigator of the\u00a0PALLIAKID project<\/a>. It\u2019s a real team effort with an exciting expert consortium. When we put the consortium together we included \u00a0five clinical sites which are part of the\u00a0European Children\u2019s Hospitals Organisation<\/a>\u00a0(ECHO) network. We also included the authors of specific tools such as those for needs assessment and Advance Care Planning and we have the privilege of being associated with two of the most influential organisations in palliative care \u2013 the\u00a0European Association of Palliative Care<\/a>\u00a0(EAPC) and the\u00a0International Children\u2019s Palliative Care Network<\/a>\u00a0(ICPCN).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
