University College Cork (UCC) is Ireland’s first five-star University which is an internationally competitive, globally focused, research-led university. Research areas include health, science, social sciences, and the humanities.
The In-Touch UCC team consists of a collaboration of researchers across the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM), Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation (CGR), and clinicians in the health service. This collaboration is titled UCC Dementia Palliative Care Research team and won UCC research team of the year, 2023. UCC is strong in terms of international collaborations and supporting excellence in research.
SoNM has is committed to conducting health service research striving for service reform. The School of Nursing at UCC (Republic of Ireland) is the top performing School in Ireland and Top 33 globally, according to QS world rankings, while CGR has a core remit to raise the standard of care for the elderly in Ireland.
The Role
UCC researchers have secured 74 Horizon Europe awards (24 as coordinator; 50 as partner) making the university well positioned to lead the project, and act as management and coordination for In-Touch (WP9). They are also the leads on the education development (WP2), as well as co-leading on the cluster Randomised Controlled Trial (WP3).
