The 13th International Seminar of the European Palliative Care Research Centre took place over two days (1st-2nd February) in Zurich, Switzerland.
The theme of this year’s seminar was ‘Preparing for the future of palliative care . Science is our success’’ and was reflected in themed sessions on:
- Palliative Care for Cancer patients across Europe
- EU / large international projects
- Technologies in palliative and patient centred care
- The future of palliative care medicine and research – why is it so difficult to implement?
- Symptom management and Patient-centred care
Delegates were welcomed to this international seminar by David Blum (Switzerland) and Stein Kaasa and Tonje Lundeby from Norway. In the session on the first day on EU / large international projects chaired by Camilla Zimmermann and Claudia Bausewein, the PAINLESS project was presented by Prof María Teresa Carrillo De La Peña entitled ‘PAINLESS – Pain relief in palliative care of cancer (using home-based neuromodulation and predictive biomarkers)’’.
